Introduction

The Meadow Vole is a medium-size vole that varies in colour from grey to brown and is white underneath and is "most abundant in open grass-sedge habitats associated with lakes, streams, dykes, sloughs and roadside ditches" (Nagorsen 1985). It is found throughout Canada and the northern United States. In British Columbia, "it is found throughout the entire mainland east of the coastal mountain ranges" (Nagorsen 2005).
